Dua Lipa’s rise to fame as one of the world’s biggest pop stars has naturally put the spotlight on her love life. And while the singer, model, and now actor is known for her “New Rules” when it comes to dating, her attitude toward romance and heartbreak has naturally evolved over the years.
“I think I’ve had breakups in my life where I felt like the only kind of breakup you could have was when things just ended really badly,” she told Rolling Stone during a January 2024 interview, noting that fortunately, that did eventually change. “Things ending in a nice way was such a new thing … It taught me a lot.” She added, “When you have a feeling like that one, you feel really grown because you’re like, ‘Oh, whoa, I’m such an evolved human being that I can see my ex move on and feel good about it.’”

Callum Turner (2024—present)
Lipa is currently linked to Callum Turner, a British actor known for his work in movies including The Boys in the Boat, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Emma, and The Last Letter From Your Lover. He previously dated The Crown star Vanessa Kirby.
Lipa and Turner first sparked dating rumors in January, after TMZ published a video of the two slow dancing and seemingly kissing at the after-party for the premiere of Masters of the Air, his new Apple TV+ drama. Later that month, paparazzi captured photos of the two enjoying a date night in Santa Monica.
Romain Gavras (2023)
Though the two were first romantically linked in March 2023, Lipa didn’t confirm her relationship with French film director Romain Gavras until she joined him at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival in May. At the time, they walked the red carpet together for the premiere of Omar La Fraise (or The King of Algiers).
“Dua and Romain are a great match because they both push each other to do better,” an insider told Us Weekly in September. “They are both very creative people and have lifted each other’s art up to a new level.”
The source added that they were “always laughing” and “constantly showing physical affection” while they “try to spend every moment together that they can. … Things are getting pretty serious and both are very happy.”
The two quietly split sometime toward the end of 2023.
Anwar Hadid (2019–2021)
Perhaps Lipa’s most well-known relationship as a high-profile celebrity has been with Anwar Hadid, younger brother of supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid.
The two reportedly first connected in June 2019 and thereafter spent the summer on a run of PDA-filled dates. They made their relationship red-carpet official that November, when Hadid accompanied Lipa to the 47th annual American Music Awards.
During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Lipa opened up to People about how quarantining with Hadid strengthened their bond. “It’s been really great—easy and fun and chill,” she told the outlet. “We’ve been making the most of this, because we got all this extra time that we weren’t expecting to just hang out. It’s been an absolute blast, and we’re learning so much more about each other.”
Things seemed to get serious after the couple celebrated their one-year anniversary in June 2020, even adopting a dog together the following month. But by the end of 2021, their relationship was over. A source for Us Weekly confirmed their breakup.
Paul Klein (2017–2018)
Lipa dated Paul Klein, frontman of pop-rock band LANY, for about five months in 2017 before ultimately calling it quits in January 2018. Klein appeared to reference their breakup in a July 2018 Instagram post, in which he explained his social media hiatus: “i deleted insta and twitter from my phone jan 4th bc my heart got ripped right out of my fucking chest and the internet was the last thing i needed.”
Speaking with Harper’s Bazaar that same month, he revealed that the heartbreak inspired his band’s sophomore album, Malibu Nights. “I never felt a pain like that,” he said at the time. “I’m not trying to be dramatic here. I think that was the first time I’ve ever been in love, and I never felt anything like that in my life.”
Isaac Carew (2013–2019)
Lipa started dating Isaac Carew, a model turned chef, long before she became a world-renowned star. Their on-and-off relationship began in 2013. They briefly split in 2017—during which time Lipa started a romance with LANY’s Klein—but in early 2018, they reconnected.
Carew posted an explanation on Instagram at the time. “We are very happy being back together,” he wrote, according to CapitalFM. “We spent 3 and half years happily together with loyalty and love and we never broke up in the first place because we had problems like that. We broke up because of scheduling conflicts and not being able to be together. Luckily our skin is tougher and love is stronger than this.”
The couple dated for another 18 months before ultimately breaking up again in June 2019.
